Re: The food thread!
There is but one Dutch food that really connects itself to the month of December, it's the famed 'Oliebollen' (that's plural, by the way)

Re: The food thread!
we have both Ensalade de gallinato and hallacas but hallacas are called a tamal for us.(or at least it looks like it)AJC wrote:Venezuelan Christmas food :pirat: :
ensalada de gallina, yah, its not what you think  that reminds me we sell it on our traditional "expoferia" (a christmas sale, only some schools take part of it) and it ran off like hell.

and of course, the hallaca, no one can live without it, we traditionally give hallacas to friends and family a day before we do them (we usually do more than 40, this year we did ours the 23th, means, yesterday  )

Re: The food thread!
I recently went to a tapas restaurant for a Spanish Class. I thought the food would be like Mexican food, but it is so much better! Spanish food is amazing! My favorite was the 'Queso De Cabra Con Tomate,' which was a delicious garlic bread with tomato sauce mixed with goat cheese for dipping.

Paëlla is awesome. I Personally love Colombia,Chinese, and Italian food.

Re: The food thread!
They had really good paëlla at the restaurant, had some nice clam sauce, giving it a nice flavor.
Re: The food thread!
I don't really like Paëlla... Mostly I think it's because it has a way too wide variety of seefood in it (fish and shrimps are delicious, but they can leave the squid and mussels out), but as a general rule, I think the flavour of paëlla is too undefined, it's too many things mixed. Perhaps some nice sauce can help, I don't know.
I do absolutely adore Italian food though.

What's wrong with squid? I like squid and also octopus... I've never eaten mussels before, but to be honest, it looks good.
Chinese food and especially rice is still my favorite food. Also their noodle soups are delicious.

Re: The food thread!
My favourite food is probably lasagne.
Rice is not among my favourite food, mainly because the school food in Sweden's public schools destroys the taste of it and everything else.

Hmmm... yes. But you should eat Nasi-Goreng from a Chines, THAT'S delicious.
PS: I also like Lasagna.

Re: The food thread!
Nasi is indeed brilliant, but I more prefer Bami/Bahmi myself. It's not Chinese though, and you'll only find it at Chinese Restaurants who also do East Indies food. Not that there's a shortage of those restaurants in the Netherlands or Belgium...
Lasagna tastes good, but there is no dignified way of eating lasagna, there just isn't. You're always going to get embarassed about yourself. But the taste is brilliant, there's no denying that.

Re: The food thread!
We have (in Britain) many foods. In Wales, Welshcakes. They are delicious! There's also, in Wales, this thing which is potato and cabbage, but I can't remember the name. And Cærphilly cheese!
In England, crumble, shepherd's pie. Wensleydale and Stilton cheese.
I don't know about Scotland, however.
