It's basically raw, seasoned meat that you can spread on a cracker or toast or something, sometimes comes with little bits of onion, and I love it. First to guess its name gets... well, nothing really, except the usual eternal honour and glory.

I suppose I'll say it then... It's called 'Filet Americain', and I have no idea why a) that's French, and b) it mentions America. What I do know is that it's absolutely lovely, even though not all people would eat it like that, it is raw meat after all. Good thing about that is you have to eat it really quickly, most generally it lasts only about a day or two before it all becomes a bit dodgy.

That's right, but seasoning and spicing does a lot. It's mostly the structure that's lovely though, if I don't get too gastronomical...
