Prologue Civilizations
Hello guys
Since last visit from the old KnB forum, the plan is that we're going to release 4 civilizations as the 'Prologue'. Here I will post outlines, eg. civ bonuses, trainable units, concept arts,...etc.
Anyway, from my understanding to our status:
Civilizations going to be released:
Byzantine Empire
the Caliphate of Cairo (Egyptians)
the Caliphate of Baghdad (Turks
Kingdom of Jerusalem (Crusaders)
I am lacking time at the moment, so feel free to post suggestions here. I'll return tomorrow for more updates.
Peugeot, is there any status or something regarding these civilizations? Please post them here, thanks.
EDIT: I revisited our old page on moddb.com and found something nice:

Re: Prologue Civilizations
I do still have that one on my hard disk, thank you...
Now, I can list your unique units from a thing called memory:
Byzantine Empire: Kataphraktoi, Akritoi, Firethrower, Varangian Guard
the Caliphate of Cairo: Camelry, Camel Archer
the Caliphate of Baghdad: Janissary, Turkopole
Kingdom of Jerusalem: Edessan Auxilliary, Armenian Cavalry, plus the whole Chapter House lot.
There may have been some more for the Muslim civs originally, but for the Byzantines and Crusaders this should be it...

Re: Prologue Civilizations
Me too. Will there be other civs such as the Papal States, Kingdom of Poland, ( ) England, etc.?
Re: Prologue Civilizations
There are more civs to come (Most of them European and one of them is Asian), but I think we're focusing on the Prologue civs ATM.
For Egypt, can we add in the 'Nubian mercenaries/spearmen/militia' as one of their UUs? The Egyptians hired alot of Nubians in their wars and such. Maybe we can make them cheap but easy to mass.
Also, are we getting the Memluks for the Egyptians too?
As for Camelry and Cam. Archer, maybe we'll make it as a common unit for the Mid. East civilizations.

Re: Prologue Civilizations
Byzantium
Default Home City: Constantinople
Bonuses: -Stronger defensive buildings. (Walls, Towers, Castles...etc.)
-Each house built gives small coin trickle.
-?
UUs: Firethrower, Kataphractoi, Varangian Guard, Akritoi
Possible Cards direction: Strong Heavy cavalry, Defense Add-ons (eg. Maybe even stronger walls, towers, tower wagons..etc)
Possible UUs: Vardariotoi (Byz. version of Horse Archers), Alamanoi (Byz. version of Swordsmen) (Found these in Med. Total War 2. )
Possible Bonus: Cheaper Church techs and monks.
-----
I think it'll be cool if there is three bonuses for each civs and for merely bonus reasons. I dunno if Peugeot will be happy if more UUs are added, so I put some newly found units at the 'possible UUs' section. Please tell me if it's fine if we add them.
What's Byzantine's building culture? Or are we going to develope new ones?

Re: Prologue Civilizations
Yep, only new ones... Byzantium's culture will be Southern European, loosely based on AoE3's Mediterannean building set, but with new textures...

Re: Prologue Civilizations
So do u think we should add those suggested UUs or just kept it as it was?

Re: Prologue Civilizations
What will you do about the religion in Europe at that time? Like the church was the most important thing in medieval Europe, so will you replace the preist with the a monk (like in AoE 2) special cards etc. ? And what about the HC's how will they be designed? The only buildings that can be used for HC's from the original AoE3 (In my opinion) would be the tower of London and the cathedrals.
Re: Prologue Civilizations
We'll find a way around those HC buildings, and I must say you're not exactly right either... Most Northern European buildings are neo-classical, and therefore unusable, but Southern and Eastern European cultures can, with a new texture, do the job just fine, not to mention the one now used for the Indians...
When it comes to religion we would like to make Churches function more like they would have in the middle ages then mere "Improvement Buildings", as ES shamelessly called them. Nothing's written down yet, but some ideas concerning churches are to have them function like a Field Hospital (Healing), Bank (Autogatherer) or Teepee (HP Boost), apart from training religious units and researching religious techs of course...

Re: Prologue Civilizations
Ok. You know what would be really funny? Giving the religious healer the woloo sound from AoE 2.
Re: Prologue Civilizations
Wolololooo is from AoE1, not AoE2... And yes, it might be cool. And no, we're not going to do it...

Re: Prologue Civilizations
I believe they kept it as a type-a-number-in-the-cheat-box sort of sound, but it wasn't used for any unit...

Re: Prologue Civilizations
Ghehe... :rendeer: :rendeer:
And in Sydney people are preparing for when it's 2013, so they can light loooooooooooooots of fireworks again...
peugeot407
PS: No, seriously, if we'd have an RMS and AI man, I could expect this to be done by somewhere this christmas, or at least the texturing could...

Re: Prologue Civilizations
I already PM'd him about it. And arc I can't do RM's anymore. Because of school. XS scripts have over 1000 lines in them. But I did offer to convert maps into medieval maps for K&B.
Re: Prologue Civilizations
What about giving the Caliphate of Cairo a higher farm gather rate?
