Knights and Barbarians is a little more than a few textures and coding. The mod comes with its own selection of those places where you grow farms, build buildings, and fight battles. Y'know, maps.

One of the randomly generated maps you'll be downloading with the mod is Sahara, like the desert. Sure you'll see some water in the showcase picture, but the map is really very dry. Dry dry dry, with some sand on top. Peugeot explains in the picture below.

Change the text to say 'dry desert' not just 'desert' when it says about it being the biggest.

And Tuareg and Beduin natives should be found at the oases. Other than that, it sounds

The thing which makes the military of the Turks so unique, is that they can train 3 different Janissary units: The Janissary Archer, Janissary Halberdier and Janissary Handgunner. They are special in that the Turks can upgrade all of them at once, thus reducing the time and cost involved in upgrading the units. Also, Janissary units are trained from a unique building, called the Ottoman Academy.


And no variations? Peugeot explains, "Another thing you might have noticed is that they all have exactly the same textures. That's not because I was lazy, but to emphasize even more the standardization that the Ottoman military system brought."

We will have Trade Routes, and actually the feature won't be much changed, only medievalised.

I believe that the hand gunners melee will be in the form of a scimitar? can I be corrected by someone?

Yes, me too. Very unique, I don't think ES made the Janissaries very central to Ottoman culture.

I'm sure yes, and the archer one, I'm sure yes too. It is just hasn't coded yet.

Ah, I see. Great looking units, anyway.

For this Friday we're dishing out the information on another K&B map: Greek Archipelago. It's the sort of place you'd expect to see the Byzantines and Italians clash, with not a little Greek fire. If you like ships, this is your map.
