What score will you give to Fransesca des Sales' news?
Re: Fransesca des Sales Newspaper
If it was not intended to be an insult, it was not an insult. Equally, if somebody finds the term 'gay' to be offensive, that could be an offense to people who actually are homosexual, as if they'd somehow be of less value. Also, knowing Pepp and his distinctive sense of humour, I'd say there's a considerable chance that this was meant as more or less of a joke.

Of course it was a joke.

Knowing Pepp, you can't say when he's serious and when joking...
Anyway, when shall we see the news for which you gathered opinions (Modding Council)?

Re: Fransesca des Sales Newspaper
Sorry double post.
The White Council
As we know, The Modding Council was announced some moments ago. Some people, especially the great modders, accept this council happily. However, the lesser ones and of course, n00bs, felt somewhat not that happy.
For example, for Alex Julio, a lesser modder, The Modding Council is AOE III modding world’s secret society, let say Masonry. Everything decided by the masters, and everything are secret. He believes this is an ambiguity: while excluding noobs, while avoiding "small modders”...
Something different comes from Leereyzhe. Even he is a bit sad because he doesn’t allowed to in, he like the modding council. He think it is a great idea because modders can pool knowledge together, and use each other’s valuable things alike [put a modding thing here]. Beside that, for Lee, The Modding Council will also standardize mods and serves as a good intermod lounge, so every modder from every MAJOR mod can go there and discuss, make it more efficient.
Mr. Car or Peugeot407, to be honest, is quite like the Modding Council. It is alreade given him quite an insight in how other mods organize (he wrote organise!) their inner workings and he was quite surprised to see how great the differences are. It makes the modders easier to help each other and it is improve the quality of all four major mods.
But the Modding Council doesn’t really affect one person, Maam-a-Look aka Sanguivorant the Egyptian. From what he knows, the modding council will be a place where modders will make threads and converse on technical things. In a way, he see that a modding council would be good, because existing modders can share and receive their information on technical works, and new modders may learn more about technical issues that they are having a problem with.
However, he thinks that all tutorials on modding should be merged into one place and not linking each other as it is now. And he thinks that the new modder (not ex-noobie) should get access to ask help in the modding council.
If the last sentences of previous paragraph happen, he thinks that it won’t only be good in helping new modders, but will also be good in helping experienced modders at effectively modifying content, since they can cooperate. However, it seems that Sanguivorant doesn’t really know what The Modding Council is, as he thinks that the Library and the Modding Council works the same. Because of this, he thinks that the Modding Council is egh, useless.
The Polski boy, Red Polish Bull, thinks that it is great. “A place where modders can come together and share knowledge with each other is awesome.” But he thinks that allowing everyone to see the council is a great idea. And he believes that ‘Modders Guild’ is a more appropriate title due that there are nobody except the modders, main modders I mean, inside the council. He hopes that all major mods will be improved in the future with the come of The Modding Council
”Well, the Modding Council is definitely a great idea,” said AOE_Fan. He thinks that with the Modding Council, modders can share their own knowledge to the other good modders and get rid ofYou Know Who noobs. It will also help them to share files, especially sound, a really ‘expensive’ thing in the modding world. It has a lot of potential to make mods even better, as long as they keep theirselves active there, and get it properly started. But well, Fanny said that they need rules, or ideology and thought…
But for Hoop Thrower, it has been left down for the time being…
At least, the one who is a great headstrong person, think that The Modding Council isn’t necessarily a bad idea, but he don’t really see the use of it. He thinks it is discrimination to non main modders. Thus he thinks it should be separated from WotTA forum (he mean in another web, which will took money…). He thinks either it should be completely closed from public view or completely open to see. He says that hybrid between the two is not a good option. And also, he thinks that the range of modding jobs is way too small.
And here is the conclusion, The Modding Council is necessarily a great idea. It is good, but in another way need soo many improvements. Also, possibly there would be a special thread or subforum where n00bs can aspirate what they want, but well, they will be spammy….

Very good, its length was just right! It's also nice to hear what others think of Modding Council.

It looks like it is, yes. Anyway, I quite like it, even if Pepp managed to shorten my contribution considerably.

Re: Fransesca des Sales Newspaper
Eh? No. I said:But he thinks that allowing everyone to see the council is a great idea.
I'm still not sure if allowing everyone to see the council is a great idea
Re: Fransesca des Sales Newspaper
One can only hope the modding council does not lead to corruption...
Re: Fransesca des Sales Newspaper
I like the idea of having an area dedicated to asking the top AOE3 modders (the ones in the council) for help. It would make life easier for people trying to search for solutions and tutorials. It also seems that the top modders will be able to communicate and share what they've done in one place, so discussions don't have to be spread throughout all the different AOE3 mod forums. I don't really understand its purpose that much, but it seems like a pretty good idea.
I just don't want this council to become some sort of corrupt, reclusive secret society that keeps to itself and stays away from noobs and lesser modders. It should be for helping people who are having trouble with something, no matter how good or bad they are, as much as it is a place for top modders to talk and share stuff. That's my view on the matter.

Re: Fransesca des Sales Newspaper
Okay, as folk seems like the previous news (except for the grammar things), I'd like to dig more about the Modding Council.
But, there is still another news can be made, let say interrogating TFN.
What do the people say?

If there is anything more that's interesting to do with the modding council, go ahead! But interrogating TFN sounds fun interesting
@ Illiander, are you even working on that mod yet or is it just a random idea?
