The most unoriginal mod ever
Have you guys seen this yet?
http://www.moddb.com/mods/age-of-empires-iii-the-war-to-end-all-wars-mod
So this guy is trying to pass off TAD with Wotta's GW units as his own mod.
He didn't even retexture the GW units!
And he said he has a selection of fruits and vegetables, but there is not a selection of fruits and vegetables in the screen shots, its all Wotta!
Are there no moderators in Moddb who can filter out this plagerism?
Or do you guys think this is the work of a troll, like the troll who created the "Age of America" sub mod of Wotta?
I didn't create either of these lame ass things.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
As far as I know, no-one in WotTA team actually modeled airplanes or tanks so they aren't really their creations (excluding possible retexturing)...
That guy is definitely better as selling fruits than making mods, still...

Still, the Wotta team deserves the credit for getting those models and textures into the game, and as Dieter said this guy is pretending that it was all his work. It annoys me seeing people comment with "great job" when he did nothing at all.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
That is why Tahattus once made a thread about stealing other mod's work. Those models aren't WotTA's, BUT it is WotTA which used them for the first time. With this historical reference, those models ARE WotTA's.
The guy is just a noob who want to be famous fast, that is it.
The how he use title Improvement Patch is also quite cunning, knowing that there is a mod named Improvement Mod, which is famous (I'd say really famous, referring to how many downloads it has).

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Well the mod was originally titled "Improvement Mod" until Mandos made a complaint about that.

Practically yes, legally not really. It could be considered as "stealing" but in reality one couldn't make a claim for ModDB for copyright reasons, to reply dietermoreno. With this historical reference, those models ARE WotTA's.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Well, that is the problem. The models aren't WotTA's, so other people might just take it. Note the difference with our own models.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Yes, that rip-off of a mod used my mod's name until I started to rage a bit.
We've come to an agreement of some sort and he even asked for my help on his mod. I declined of course.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Well I think he should be allowed to use the models and textures from Wotta.
The problem I have is that he gave no credit to Wotta, implying that he imported all those models and made all of those textures, when in fact all he did was edit some of the xml files to move GW to imperial age for TAD.
That's not even to mention how unoriginal his idea is. Why would anyone want to play GW exactly the same in TAD as in Wotta when they can play it in Wotta? The only reason I can think of why he did that was too get famous fast because people would think that he imported all of those models.
He says he has a selection of fruits and vegetables , and I bet that selection of fruits and vegetables is probably my selection of fruits and vegetables !
(I'm talking about the selection of fruits and vegetables in this link I put up for download last summer: Link removed by Admin)
It appears that Wuala took down my mod that was in parts 1 and 2 because it had 3ds max 10 and 8 complete downloads hidden inside the .rar file haha. Part 3 is just the serial and it didn't get taken down.

Sharing cracks or serial numbers to programs is illegal so I removed your link.

Good decision.I declined of course.
I bet that selection of fruits and vegetables is WotTA's, whose base will rotate along with the gun...He says he has a selection of fruits and vegetables , and I bet that selection of fruits and vegetables is probably my selection of fruits and vegetables!

There is no selection of fruits and vegtables in WotTA, other than those from farming at the mill, gathering berries, and gathering from food crates.

The censorship really is catching Dieter out, at multiple levels, it seems...

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Do you like selection of fruits and vegetables better since its the gun of the empire of your homeland Mr. Robert?
Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Adopted homeland perhaps, in ten years time...
Anyway, I do like them in CoH2. They're no more powerful than MG42s, but the little wheels make for great comic value.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
However, if this "cannibalpizza" were to steal any lines of coding, I do believe that counts as plagiarism. And given the fact that the units have no names as seen in the pictures, he probably copied and pasted the units from the proto in Wotta into a new proto, but not the strings into a new stringtable.
Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Y.E.S. it is. I myself think that it was a WotTA, with the GW things moved to age V.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
Thankfully the mod has been cancelled now, though the reason was that the developer couldn't find anyone to help them. However I've also noticed that the comment that Hoopthrower left on the page earlier regarding the models has mysteriously disappeared. It was the aliens I'm sure.

Re: The most unoriginal mod ever
i read about the mod in mod db and its ridiculous i prefer wotta because along with great war there is various features but i think great war could be improved a bit and selections of fruits and vegetables should be a unit and not a upgrade

I disagree, it would be too hard to animate them.
