I just did to great effect.
I recommend a machete to everyone for cutting down the small trees and bushes and tall grass to prepare for bringing in the lawn mower.

This topic is pretty unimportant you know... we want this kind of silly topic to be discussed in the off topic. So, hah...

I'd love to try it, but unfortunately machetes are illegal in the Netherlands...

What about a rapier? Or a broadsword?

He just said machetes are illegal... For a sword you'd probably be imprisoned for life...

Oddly enough, you are allowed to have a sword here, but it must be blunt. Sharpened swords are illegal. Oh, the delights of bureaucracy...

What if you own a blunt sword and a sharpening stone?
If you can't own a machete in the Netherlands, how are you supposed to cut your undergrowth growing in your yard when you don't cut your grass or weeds for a year (which was the case for my yard in 'Thirteen Colonies)?

or you just cut your grass on time
but for retards like me who waited a year to cut it, a weed whacker won't cut down a 3 inch diameter tree sappling.
so I guess no retards allowed in Europe and only allowed in America.

We've actually have a machete in my house, but nah, we use some big-ass scissors for that, they are easier to use than machetes I believe...

@Dieter: In that case I'd use a saw...

My grandma used to use a scythe to cut the dense grass by the creek behind her house...
