Music and avoiding copyright Empty Music and avoiding copyright

I'm very new here, and I was watching a video highlighting the Italians vs the Byzantines. I found it very good, even though the voice-over detracted from the overall video on a regular basis. One thing I noticed, was that the music all came from movies, which can be a major problem with copyright. I am the president of my university's Olde World Music Club, and if you guys would like authentic medieval and renaissance music, I can talk to my club, and see if we can record 100% free-to-use music for the mod. One thing I know I have always wanted in ANY historically based game, is authentic music.

Thoughts, ideas?

If you manage to record authentic music for the mod with good sound quality, I'm sure we'd be very glad to take a listen and use the songs! Can you give us a link to any previous recordings?

I will have to ask a friend who took a video on her iPod of the Renaissance Club doing dancing. Once I have that on Youtube, I'll send that link to you.

We can look into doing some chants. Here is a list of our repertoire as of right now:

Duce Dame Jolie
Bärentanz
Herr Mannelig
Black Nag
Robin Hood and the Tanner
An Dro (tons of different versions)
In Taberna
Sackpipslat
Amoroso
Sellenger's Round
Tourdion
Traubentritt
Unser Liebe Fraue
Death Dance
And honestly, there is a LOT more, I just can't remember everything off hand. haha! Once school starts up again, I'll talk to my club, and see what we can do. We're in the process of putting together CD's for fund raising sales and such, and when everything is done, we can potentially work on sending music for free to you guys, so long as we appear in the credits. Smile

However, if you want historical, with an epic gamey-feel to it, look up Corvus Corax, and try contacting them. They MIGHT give you leave to use their music exclusively for the game. Smile

Crap quality sound with a bunch of people talking in the background, but it gives you an idea of what we can play for the dancers of the Renaissance Club. The name of the song is Black Nag.
