Re: Friday Updates
The people who are great at what they do, don't say to themselves "I suck, I will always suck." I am the same way.

I disagree. No manner of brilliance can make modesty less of a virtue than it is.

I guess that I can't convince you, so I won't try. Too tired and also .

Re: Friday Updates
To start the Friday Update, you'll get to see my favorite unit so far. What exactly does the Hashashin do? Let's just say he kills people, and is good at it. If you see a Hashashin near your lord, then that lord is in mortal danger. Priests and imams should also steer clear of this fellow.
A small preview. I'll let you guess what the feature is. This minimap is from an early draft of a map called Bosphorus. It's taken a lot of tweaking, but thanks to some dedicated work from AOE_Fan the feature is coming together, as are the suite of more than twenty unique maps and map types that you'll get with Prologue (note: some of these build off of the work from Age of Crusade's cartographers).
The last thing I want to show is some work that's being done on the Prologue AI. Each AI type has the distinct personality of it's faction lord. Here's a look at some of the things King Władysław Jagiełło of Poland will say.

Player is enemy: "Today is the day your nation will be wiped of this map."
Player was ally, now enemy: "You dare back stab ME!? Hah, I will crush you like the vermin you are!"
Player ages up early: "Someone should teach you speed is not the only way to win a battle. That someone will be ME!"
AI needs coin: "I need some coin, and refusing me is greed, so give me coin!"
Player is enemy and takes ****************: "You have brought my wrath upon this local people this day."
AI takes **************** "The locals are clever. They know they cannot best me, soon you shall learn this too."
AI loses Lord: "Today, I have lost a brave man. Today, I'll kill in revenge!"
AI admits defeat (2): "I may have lost this battle, but this war has only just begun."

Re: Friday Updates
wow, I just realized it's friday, these idle weeks are really taking a tow on me.
Anyways, lol, I guess you've got various Assassin's creed fans among your ranks, otherwise I don't know what an Hashashin would be doing in an otherwise Europe centered medieval mod.
Finally, I guess your AI personalities don't have voices, unless Dude really had lots of free time on his hands.
That part of "player was ally, now is enemy" is particularly interesting, I wasn't even aware that was possible in aoe3's engine...

Re: Friday Updates
Prologue, the first release of K&B, actually isn't too Euro-centered.otherwise Europe centered medieval mod.
Many of the maps will be from the coastal areas east and south of the Mediterranean, as well as some from the Levant. The first playable factions will be the Byzantines, Egyptians, Turks, Crusaders, and (I think) Italians.

Re: Friday Updates
I see, it's quite the Crusades mod, with the following versions centering on the more Euro civs. Curious, I never heard of the Egyptians before, I really wonder how'll you differentiate egyptians from moors from arabs...

Re: Friday Updates
Well, they're actually called Saracens, but since they're sort of focused on Salah-al-Din, Egyptians is indeed a viable and historically accurate name for them.

Re: Friday Updates
Very cool. So I am guessing that the Hashashin are just really hyped up spies that you can only have a small number of them at a time. I do like the assassins creed theme .

You'll have to wait and see, but I can promise you it's a really powerful unit with a fitting buildlimit.

Did you really make a sea trade route?

Re: Friday Updates
Yes, we really made a naval trade route, it's a very cool feature! I guess some people have thought it being impossible, but it isn't.
And, as General_II already confirmed, the amount of maps in K&B will be amazing. I can also reveal, that we will have separate Large versions of some maps (someone asked this long time ago).

Yeah, the how KnB is the only total conversion mod with few modder and some useless member (alike, sorry, Pepp...), who can make a normally impossible thing become possible.

Heh, I wouldn't have realized it's a sea trade route if you didn't point it out to me. That's also quite the great improvement...

Yeah, but I thought the white line on the middle of the map was some other kind of oddity...

I had no clue that you were colourblind, but this is off topic.
How were you able to make the route function under water?

Re: Friday Updates
It's quite simple, and we don't care to share the details until the mod is released.

Yeah, the naval trade route is indeed pretty simple, so I'd say that Tahattus could code it easily if he'd want to...
